Rescreening services in Longwood, FL

Panel-by-panel rescreening, full cage rescreens, screen door repair, pet-resistant mesh and 20x20 no-see-um mesh — for pool cages, lanais and screen rooms in Longwood and unincorporated 32750 and 32779. On the 1970s and 1980s frames that make up most of this town, fastener and spline-groove condition is part of the job rather than an upsell discovered halfway through.

Panel-by-panel rescreening

Torn or blown-out panels replaced one at a time, matched to the mesh already on the cage. On a 1970s Longwood frame the spline groove and the screws get checked at the same time, because that is usually what failed first.

Full cage rescreen

Every panel stripped and rewoven in one visit — the sensible option once the mesh has gone brittle across the whole enclosure rather than in two or three spots.

Screen door repair and rebuild

Sagging or racked doors, worn rollers, bent frames, and kickplate replacement. Doors take more cycles than any other part of the cage and fail first.

Pet-resistant mesh

Heavier strand for the lower panels where a dog leans, pushes or claws, usually with standard mesh kept above so the cage still breathes and stays clear.

No-see-um mesh (20x20)

A tighter weave for the Wekiva corridor and the lakefront streets, where biting midges and no-see-ums get through ordinary insect screening.

The part most quotes leave out: screws and spline

Wekiva Hunt Club’s homes were built 1974–1984 with a median year built of 1977. Sweetwater Oaks was built mostly 1971–1987. That puts the typical cage in this town at 40 to 55 years old, and it changes what a rescreen actually is.

  • Self-tapping screws. Four decades of Florida humidity, and the heads shear off when you touch them. They get replaced, not re-torqued.
  • Spline grooves. Two or three previous rescreens widen the groove. New mesh in a worn groove pulls loose, and the callback comes in the first windy week. A wider spline or a groove repair is the fix.
  • Chalked finish. Original white aluminium powders under UV. It is cosmetic, but it tells you how much sun the frame has taken.
  • Mansard roof geometry. Common on this vintage and the reason Longwood roof panels are awkward — the angle collects oak litter instead of shedding it.

None of that means every job is a big job. It means the inspection happens before the quote is final, and any structural finding is named out loud rather than discovered on the day.

Where a rescreen stops and a permit starts

Inside City of Longwood limits, “replacement of pool enclosure screening” is listed as exempt from permit in the City’s adopted building code amendments. That exemption covers the mesh. It does not cover:

  • Replacing a corroded upright, a beam or a footer
  • Changing the enclosure’s dimensions, height or footprint
  • A new enclosure, or re-erecting one that came down

Those are structural and need a permit in both jurisdictions. And an exemption from the permit is not an exemption from the code — the ordinance says so in terms. The permit guide sets out both authorities, both answers and the wind-speed numbers the frame is designed to.

Jurisdiction is decided parcel by parcel

A Longwood mailing address does not tell you who your building authority is. The City puts it plainly: “Although you may live in the City of Longwood with a 32750 zip code, you may still be in Unincorporated Seminole County. This applies to residents in the 32779 zip code as well.” Confirm your own parcel before assuming either answer applies to you — the permit guide walks through how.

Market price estimates, with sources

No Longwood-specific published pricing exists anywhere — we looked. What follows is the best third-party evidence available for Florida and the Orlando area, attributed line by line so you can weigh it yourself.

These are third-party market estimates, not our prices and not a quote. They are collected from published Florida and Orlando-area cost guides — two of the three sources are themselves screen contractors, and none of them is Longwood-specific. Longwood Rescreening's own per-panel and full-cage pricing is and will replace these ranges before launch.

Searched ashow to rescreen pool cage roof

The mechanics are the same as a wall panel — pull the old spline out of the groove, lay the new mesh over the opening, roll fresh spline in, trim — but the position is not. On the mansard cages common in Longwood the roof panels sit above a hard pool deck, the frame members are not designed to be stood on, and forty-year-old self-tapping screws are exactly the fasteners you do not want to trust with your weight. Roof panels are also the panels that tear first here, because they are the ones catching the oak litter. If you are looking this up because a roof panel blew out, that is the one to hand over.

Searched asaverage cost of pool screen enclosure

Published Florida guides put a full rescreen of an existing enclosure at $1,500–$4,500+, and by mesh type: fiberglass $900–$1,600, polyester $1,500–$2,200, pet-resistant $2,000–$3,000+, solar screen $2,700–$4,500 (Absolute Aluminum). A brand new enclosure is a different and much larger job than a rescreen, and it is not exempt from permit anywhere in Longwood or Seminole County. We are not going to guess at your policy. What is worth knowing locally is that Atlantic hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November, and that Longwood’s adopted ultimate design wind speed is 129 mph for Risk Category I structures, the category screen enclosures normally fall in — which is the standard the frame is measured against, not a promise about what a policy pays. Screen enclosure coverage, deductibles and exclusions vary by carrier and by policy form, so read yours or ask your agent before assuming. The fuller breakdown →
